One year ago, the Eaton Fire changed lives across Altadena and surrounding communities. Homes were lost, families were displaced, and lives were taken. For many, the year since has been marked by waiting, rebuilding, and learning how to move forward after profound loss.

Today, we pause to acknowledge those lost, the families who were displaced, the neighbors still navigating recovery, and the many helpers who continue to show up with care and commitment. This anniversary isn’t about closure — it’s a moment to reflect on what was lost and on the strength it takes to keep going.

Coming Together at the Forever Run

That sense of community was felt again at the recent Forever Run, where people gathered to move, reflect, and be together. It wasn’t about answers or solutions — just showing up, sharing space, and honoring the people and stories that continue to shape this place.

A Real Moment, One Year Later

A year later, recovery still looks different for everyone. Some are building, some are waiting, and some are just trying to get through the day. What’s been clear, though, is that this community continues to look out for one another — in big ways and small ones.

Today is a day to remember, to be present, and to recognize that showing up still matters.
