FAQ

We know the rebuild process can feel overwhelming. These FAQs share straightforward answers about how we work, what to expect, and how we support you from first meeting to move-in.

Getting Started

Why choose Remington Rebuilds instead of hiring a separate architect or contractor?

We offer a coordinated design-build approach with wildfire rebuilding experience, semi-custom plan options, and a more streamlined path from planning through construction. Instead of managing multiple firms, you work with one team focused on clarity, consistency, and accountability.

What experience do you have in rebuilding after wildfires?

Our team brings over 50 years of homebuilding experience and significant wildfire rebuild experience, including rebuilding 130 homes after Colorado’s Marshall Fire. That background helps us guide homeowners through the rebuilding process with more confidence and fewer surprises.

What areas do you serve in California?

We currently serve the Los Angeles area, with a focus on supporting homeowners through a local rebuilding process.

What is the next step if I’m interested?

The best next step is to schedule a Site & Scope Consultation so we can review your property, talk through your goals, and outline what the path forward could look like.

How do I know you’re a legitimate company I can trust?

We understand why homeowners ask this. Our process is designed to provide clarity before a major commitment, with defined deliverables, milestone-based payments, local presence, and a long-standing homebuilding background. Our goal is to earn trust through transparency and follow-through.

Plan, Pricing, and Flexibility

Can I personalize my rebuild?

Yes. Our semi-custom approach gives you flexibility to make choices that reflect your needs and style while keeping the process manageable.

Do you build like-for-like homes?

Yes. If you already have a plan, we can review it, price it, and build it. If you do not have a plan yet, you can choose from our pre-designed rebuild models and flexible options.

How does your pricing work?

We use a fixed-price contract once plans and specifications are defined. Early costs are typically limited to preconstruction work, permits, and required consultants.

What should I expect for property taxes?

Property taxes can vary based on factors like prior assessed value, rebuild value, and county rules. While we do not provide tax advice, we can help you understand the factors that may affect planning.

Timeline and Process

How long does a rebuild take?

Most rebuilds take about 7 to 9 months from permit approval, depending on the size of the home, level of customization, and site conditions. Preconstruction and permitting happen before that.

How quickly can rebuilding begin?

Once debris is cleared, insurance is sufficiently in place, and permits are issued, construction can often begin within about a month. Timing depends on site readiness and approvals.

What happens if unexpected issues come up during construction?

If something unexpected comes up, we document it, explain the options, and outline any cost or schedule impact before moving forward. We do not proceed without your approval.

How will you communicate progress and budget updates?

You will work with a dedicated project manager and have milestone walk-throughs at key stages so you can stay informed on progress, decisions, and budget.

Insurance, Permits, and Site Conditions

Do you help navigate insurance, and do you work with insurance companies?

Yes. While we are not insurance adjusters or legal representatives, we regularly help homeowners review settlement questions, identify possible gaps, and coordinate with insurance representatives or advisors when appropriate.

What about soil testing?

Soil-related requirements vary by property. Some sites may need geotechnical review during preconstruction, while environmental contaminant testing is handled separately by the homeowner. We can help identify what may be needed and connect you with the right outside professionals.

Do you coordinate permits and other approvals?

Yes. We coordinate building permits and other required approvals, including fire-related and HOA or architectural submissions when needed.

Quality, Warranty, and Examples

What safety and resilience features do you build into your homes?

We use materials and methods selected with fire resilience and energy performance in mind, such as Class A roofing, ignition-resistant siding, ember-resistant vents, dual-pane windows, and other code-conscious features.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold a California B-General Contractor license and carry the insurance coverages required to support construction, lending, and municipal requirements.

What kind of warranty do you provide?

We provide warranty coverage that includes one year for workmanship, two years for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems under applicable California standards, and a ten-year structural warranty.

Where can I see examples of your work?

We can share project photos, floor plans, design examples, finish examples, and other materials during your consultation, through our website, and through our office.

Can I speak with past clients or see testimonials?

Yes. We can point you to available testimonials, project examples, and, when appropriate, connect you with past clients who are open to sharing their experience.
