FAQ

We know the rebuild process can feel overwhelming. These FAQs share straightforward answers about how we work, what to expect, and how we support you from first meeting to move-in.

1. Why should I choose Remington Rebuilds over hiring a separate architect or general contractor? We offer a turnkey design-build process with wildfire expertise, semi-custom plan options, and fixed pricing—making approvals faster, costs predictable, and rebuilding far less stressful.

2. What experience do you have in rebuilding after wildfires? We rebuilt 129 homes after Colorado’s Marshall Fire and bring over 50 years of homebuilding expertise to help families in Altadena rebuild with confidence.

3. What regions do you serve in California? We currently rebuild only in the Los Angeles area, focusing our team and trade partners locally to deliver faster timelines, consistent quality, and predictable costs.

4. How does your rebuild timeline work—from cleanup to move-in? A typical rebuild takes about 7–9 months and follows five main steps: - Site evaluation & clearance: debris removal, soil testing, and temporary utilities. - Design & permitting: customizing plans, engineering, and wildfire approvals. - Construction: foundation, framing, inspections, and rough-ins. - Finishes: cabinets, tile, fixtures. - Final walkthrough: punch-list review and warranty hand-off. Timeline may vary depending on site conditions, permitting, and homeowner selections

5. What are your fees and pricing structure? We use a fixed-price contract once plans and specifications are set. Upfront costs are limited to a design deposit and required permits or consultants. Any owner-requested changes are priced and approved before work begins, so there are no surprises. Pricing may vary depending on plan selections and site conditions.

6. Can I personalize a floor plan? Are modifications allowed? Yes — you can adjust layouts, add ADUs, customize façades, or upgrade energy features. Our in-house design team reviews all changes to ensure code compliance and structural integrity.

7. Do you assist with insurance claims and financing options? Yes — we provide client specific estimates, coordinate with adjusters, document required code upgrades, and can connect you with lenders experienced in rebuild financing.

8. How quickly can rebuilding begin? Once debris is cleared, insurance approval is in place, and permits are issued, we can typically start rebuilding within 1 month, supported by pre-approved plans, vetted trade partners, and secured materials. Timelines and pricing may vary depending on site conditions, permitting, and homeowner selections.

9. What safety and sustainability materials or methods do you use? We build with fire- and energy-conscious materials such as Class A roofing, ignition-resistant siding, ember-resistant vents, dual-pane windows, tight air sealing, high-R insulation, solar-ready wiring, and low-VOC finishes.

10. What happens if unexpected issues emerge mid-build? We document any issues, present solutions with clear cost and time impacts, and move forward only after you approve a written change order—keeping budget and schedule transparent.

11. Are you licensed and insured? Yes — we hold a California B-General Contractor license and carry general liability, workers’ compensation, and builder’s risk coverage to meet lender and municipal requirements.

12. What is the next step if I’m interested in working with you? Book a complimentary Site & Scope Consultation — a property walk, insurance review, and a tailored proposal with timeline and budget. Visit Contact Us, email info@remingtonrebuilds.com, or call 626.649.4061.

13. What kind of warranty and post-move-in service do you provide? We stand behind our work with a one-year workmanship warranty, two-year plumbing, electrical, and HVAC warranty (per CA SB-800), and a ten-year structural warranty. We also schedule 30-day and 11-month check-ins and provide an online portal for service requests.

14. How will you communicate progress and budget updates? You’ll work with a dedicated project manager and join milestone walk-throughs at key stages to stay informed on progress and budget.

15. Do you coordinate permits and HOA or fire-department approvals? Yes — we manage building permits, CAL Fire and LA County Fire approvals, and any HOA or architectural submissions, saving you time and paperwork.

16. Can I tour past projects or speak with previous clients? Yes — we offer an online photo gallery and several virtual tours of completed homes. We can also point you to rebuild testimonials and, when appropriate, connect you with past clients who are open to sharing their experience.
