Listed below are the major steps of rebuilding after a fire, but keep in mind there are many, smaller steps in-between

Clean Up
Hazardous Material & Fire Debris Removal: 1. When will this be completed? The timeline depends on local jurisdiction and available services. 2. Will you use private services or the Army Corps of Engineers? Both are options—government-led cleanup is often cost-covered, while private removal may be faster and may be covered by insurance. 3. How is this paid for? Costs may be covered through insurance, FEMA assistance, state/local recovery funds, or grants.

Financial Planning
Determine Your Financial Position for Rebuilding: 1. Will you rely solely on insurance proceeds? 2. Do you plan to invest additional cash to expand or enhance your rebuild? 3. Would a construction loan be beneficial to finance the project?

Choosing a Team
Constructing a home involves 30 or more subcontractors, trades, and vendors. You could attempt to coordinate this yourself if you have the time and expertise, but most homeowners choose to hire a general contractor to manage the process. There are two primary paths forward: 1. The Custom Route: Hire an architect to develop plans, a structural engineer to engineer the home, and a general contractor to execute the build. 2. The Turnkey Route: Choose a builder who provides all of these services under one roof, streamlining the process and often reducing cost and timeline. Each approach has its advantages, and we can help guide you to the best option for your needs.
